About
Men’s Achievement Recovery Court (MARC) began on January 19, 1996, and the program continues to have a positive impact on the community by reducing crime and changing participants’ drug-using behavior. Formerly known as Drug Court, it changed its name in March 2022 to use destigmatizing language about recovery. MARC has maintained a successful completion rate of 75%.
MARC is committed to assisting with the intervention, treatment, and rehabilitation of drug offenders who desire to change circumstances in their lives and break the cycle of drug dependency. It is a highly structured program, lasting six months to five years, which encourages sobriety through weekly court appearances, intensive supervision by the Probation Services Department, urine testing, involvement with treatment, and support groups. Upon successful completion of MARC, participants will be clean and sober, have a support system within the community, have improved health, have employment or be furthering their education, and have their cases dismissed at graduation if on Intervention in Lieu of Conviction.
Participation Criteria:
Open to male clients who are granted Intervention in Lieu of Conviction or Community Control with a moderate or higher Ohio Risk Assessment System (ORAS) score.
Graduation Criteria:
To graduate from MARC, participants must maintain sobriety from drugs and alcohol for six consecutive months, have no new felony offenses, be employed or enrolled in school, have fulfilled their financial obligation, and have completed special conditions as ordered by the Court.
Schedule:
MARC is held weekly on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. at the Courthouse located at 41 N. Perry Street. Participants should arrive and be seated in the Courtroom by 3:25 p.m.
