About

Jury service is one of the most important civic duties you can perform. The protection of rights and liberties in Federal, State and Local courts largely is achieved through the work of a judge and jury. In civil and criminal trials in the United States, the jury is responsible for hearing the facts of the case and issuing a verdict based on those facts and the law.  A jury may also be asked to decide an amount of money damages to be awarded to a party.

To determine whether you need to report on your on call start date, please call the Recorded Jury Message number that is on your summons after 7:00 p.m. on the weekday prior to your on call start date. It is important that you check, as your reporting date, time and location are subject to change. The Recorded Message operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Your Jury Summons/Questionnaire

You will receive your jury summons/questionnaire in the mail approximately three (3) weeks prior to your term of service. The questionnaire is to be completed in full and sent back immediately to the court. You are to retain the lower portion of the form (which is the actual jury summons), and bring it with you when you report to court. You may also complete the questionnaire at the Courts eResponse Jury Management System  instead of mailing it to the court.

Eligibility

To be eligible to serve on jury duty, you must be at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States and a resident of Montgomery County. You must also be able to communicate in the English language. A prospective juror over 75 years of age may request to be excused.
