Court Welcomes Judge Ellis

Judge Elizabeth A. Ellis was welcomed to the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, General Division, as she took her oath of office on June 13. She was appointed to the court by Governor Mike DeWine to fill the vacant seat left by Judge Mary Katherine Huffman after her election to the Second District Court of Appeals. Judge Ellis began her service on the court on June 20.

Judge Ellis took the oath of office at the University of Dayton School of Law’s Mathias H. Heck Courtroom in a ceremony presided over by Judge Mary Wiseman, the administrative judge of Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, General Division.

Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney Mathias H. Heck delivered the oath of office, while Judge Adolfo Tornichio of Greene County Common Pleas Court, Judge Ronald Lewis of the Second District Court of Appeals, and Montgomery County Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Ward Barrentine gave remarks. Maj. William Harden of the Greene County Coroner’s Office, Glory Ministries Church, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office delivered the invocation.

At the time of her appointment, Judge Ellis had been an assistant prosecutor for Montgomery County since 2021. Previously, she worked for the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office for 19 years.
