Kushinda Court Celebrates First Graduation
July 18, 2023
Kushinda Court, the court’s newest specialized docket serving African American males aged 18-29, hosted its very first graduation ceremony on June 29. Willie Childs, a local man who successfully completed his probation, gave remarks, and rapper Jay Martinez gave a short but powerful performance. Judge Parker reflected on the progress made since Kushinda Court’s inception in the fall of 2021.
The specialized docket team has done significant work to identify and partner with community resources to meet client needs, and Judge Parker has made many of these resources available in the courtroom itself when clients meet each Thursday. The first graduating group consisted of six individuals.
Congratulations to these clients, and bravo to Judge Parker and the court staff who have worked very hard to make Kushinda Court a reality!
