Judge Wiseman Elected Administrative Judge

Judge Mary Wiseman is the new Administrative Judge for Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, General Division. She assumed the role effective January 1, 2023.

Elected annually by the judges of the General Division bench, the Administrative Judge has various duties under the Rules of Superintendence for the Courts of Ohio in addition to their established judicial duties. Notably, the Administrative Judge ensures that justice is carried out in a timely manner by monitoring case flow throughout the division. They are also responsible for administrative decisions affecting division personnel.

Judge Wiseman was appointed to the General Division bench in 2007, and was elected to a new, six-year term in November 2022. She is a past President of the Dayton Bar Association and the Carl D. Kessler Inn of Court, and has served as chair of the court’s Technology Committee. Judge Wiseman received her B.S. from Ball State University in 1984 and her J.D. with honors from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1988.

Prior to her judicial service, Judge Wiseman practiced complex civil litigation in state and federal courts nationwide. She has taught at the University of Dayton School of Law and Sinclair Community College. She served on the Dayton City Commission from 1998-2002.
