Background Check

The General Division reserves the right to conduct a traffic and criminal background check on every employee. This check includes criminal history searches for felony and misdemeanor convictions and motor vehicle infractions. If you are selected for an interview, you will be provided with a Notification and Authorization to Release Criminal Information for Employment Consideration Purposes Form which will permit the General Division to conduct your check.

Drug Screen

The General Division also requires a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test. This test can be conducted at one of the five (5) Concentra Occupational Health facilities in the Dayton area, and the cost of the screen is paid by the General Division. As with the background check, the candidate will be required to go to Concentra after his/her interview and before an offer of employment can be made.

Physical Examination

Beginning July 1, 2023, those candidates hired into a Probation Officer or Investigative Probation Officer position will be required to submit to a physical examination prior to employment as well as periodically after hire (every 2 – 3 years). The cost of the physical will be paid by the General Division.

I-9 Form

The General Division hires only documented United State citizens authorized to work in the United States. If hired, as a condition of employment, verification of identity and work authorization will be required within three (3) days of the start date.
