If you do not respond timely and appropriately to a civil case summons, then a money judgment may be entered against you. You have 28 days from the date of service, unless that time period is extended by motion or agreement, to file an answer or other response to the complaint. An answer or other response to the complaint must be filed with the Clerk of Courts.
